At 19 Culinary Studio | Christmas Cupcake Workshop

by - Thursday, February 09, 2017

first off first, i wanna clarify that this is a pathetically back-dated post which i owed Butterfly Project for almost two months *wtf!!!*. had my external drive passed to a friend and just managed to get it back *like yesterday* so i just got my hands back to my photos. thousand apologies to Mamasan Tammy for not posting this on time that she had to come and chase me for it *sorry Tammy!!!*.

so as i was saying, this was holy back-dated before Christmas where i recalled driving myself from Kuantan back KL just to attend this event. it was a sweet-velvety evening well spent with the Butterflies at At 19 Culinary Studio where we attended a three hours workshop making Christmas Cupcakes together.

At 19 Culinary Studio is a culinary school catering to people who wish to have a memorable experience, whether to learn or improve their culinary skills, spend their free time with friends or bond with their loved ones in a fun and affordable way.

At 19 Culinary Studio keeps their classes small and conducted hands-on in a home-kitchen environment using recipes which can be re-created at home.

we were about to make some really yummy red velvet cupcakes!!! with Christmas themed decorations!!!

At 19 Culinary Studio had all the ingredients prepared and nicely arranged for us, i would say she understands bloggers well we always need a nice setting to snap photos *LOL*. all ingredients were separated, measured and labelled for everyone's convenience.

the class was conducted by Suraiya. i must say she is very good and patient when it comes to conducting the class with 20 bloggers whom were busy snapping photos *most of the time* while listening to her teachings *LOL*. she explained all the steps clearly and she was really committed in helping each and everyone of us when it was our turn to bake.

to start off, in a small bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. in a large measuring cup, combine the buttermilk, food coloring, vinegar, and vanilla.

in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, butter and sugar were beat on medium speed for 1 minute, until light. eggs were then added, one at a time, and beat until combined.

with the mixer on low speed, the dry ingredients and the wet ingredients were added alternately in 3 parts, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients, and were mixed until combined. a rubber spatula is used to be sure the batter is mixed evenly.

batter was scooped into the muffin cups with a 2 1/4-inch ice cream scoop or large spoon. next they are all ready to pop into the pre-heated oven and were baked for 25 to 30 minutes.

to make the red velvet frosting, cream cheese, butter, and vanilla were placed in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, and mixed on medium speed just until combined. sugar is then added and mixed until smooth. there were also grated lemon and lemon juice added to give the frosting a tinge of freshness.

while waiting for the cupcakes to bake, it was time to make the decorations for our cupcakes. totally not my thing for i have limited creativity when it comes to creating from scratch. we were given colourful edible sugar frosting to make the decorations.

could not really think of what to make i just have to peep at the pretty bloggers around me to get ideas *LOL!!!*. and i turned out making 2 candy cars, an xmas tree, an xmas gift box, and a really failed lollipop.

the cupcakes are ready after sitting in the oven for 30 minutes. they were then top with the cream cheese frosting, and finally followed by our own self-made decorations.

each of us was given 3 cupcakes to bring home, and here are mine!!! definitely not as nice as the rest of the blogger babes.

thank you Mamasan Tammy for gathering Butterflies to this awesome and sweet evening together!!!
